Ben 10 DVD Game

The Ben 10 DVD Game for children aged 7 and over, promises a lot with its mini games and its clips from the popular cartoon series. The player travels along the virtual board testing their skills as 10 of Ben’s aliens. The mini games are each based on one of the alien’s powers. In one game you will play as Heatblast and see what your fire skills are like. In another you will navigate a strength game as Four Arms. The idea is to master each of the aliens’ powers. As you progress through the game you will gain more powers so that by the end you should be powerful enough to defeat the ultimate baddie, Vilgax.

As with all DVD games, the mini games you play are issued randomly so you should always have a unique playing experience. This game can be played by a child on their own or with another 3 players.

The trouble with this and many other DVD games is that for those children used to gaming consoles such as the Wii and the PS2, clicking here and there on your DVD remote control is not very exciting. As such the game is a bit tedious. It also lasts quite a long time and is hard to win, adding to the boredom!  As a parent you would be better off spending your money on one of the Ben 10 video games available.

Man, I must be getting old. Some of the things I hear myself thinking make me sound like an old old man. For instance, I was thinking to myself today “They don’t make cartoons like they used to”. I remember when I was a kid (a young whipper snapper), Saturday morning was my favourite time of the week. I would get up at 5:30 am and run down to the lounge room to catch the Saturday Morning family cartoons. Stuff like Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo and all the Warner Brothers stuff was just the best. At around 9 am my parents would wake up, and quite often they’d come in and watch a few shows with me.

Now I have a couple of kids of my own, and whenever I walk into the lounge room on a Saturday morning, I cringe. The watered down plastic cartoons that are being mass produced nowadays are a joke. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera are probably rolling in their graves.
