If you haven’t been watching the news, you may be unaware of the dangers of drywall manufactured in China, which could be just as toxic as mold exposure.
Claims have been made that when the walls are exposed to moisture they give off corrosive gases that can be toxic to one’s health.
Many of the claims also state that new homes that included the walls could affect air conditioning units by causing them to fail and cause electrical problems. The defective walls, which are also supposed to be resistant to mold, may actually be causing mold problems.
So far the problem has only been reported in the states of Florida and Louisiana, however that doesn’t mean other states are actually excluded. If you have a new home that contains mold resistant drywall, you may want to check with a professional to find out if your home is at risk for drywall mold.
You can also take things one-step further by contacting the company who built your home and asking them where their building materials come from.
