You can make lovely and original custom picture frames by painting them with dimensional paint. This can help you recycle older wooden frames that show excess wear, or you can purchase wood frames unfinished at a craft store and finish them yourself. Draw a design on your frame with paint made for fabrics. Let the frame dry overnight.
Then paint your frame a solid color with acrylic paint made for crafting. This will pool in the design lines, so brush it completely out, and leave it sit until it’s dry to the touch. Add gold or silver paint with a dry brush method over the solid color, with a larger paint brush. You will see eye-appealing color streaks appear. Repeat this until the coverage is as you desire. Then you can let the whole frame sit overnight, and put a photo in it the next day.
