Spotty Driving Records and Insuring Your Spouse

Although it may seem like a better idea to get separate insurance policies if one individual in a couple has a spotty driving record, it is actually a better idea to get both partners onto the same policy. The rates will be higher than two good driving records, but you will save money by having multiple people on one car insurance policy as opposed to two separate policies.

There is simply no doubt that having a poor driving record on your insurance policy is going to rise your monthly premiums, but insurance costs can be kept down by having your spouse as an additional driver on your car insurance policy. In some cases, auto insurance companies will not partake in the coverage of incidents caused by the partner with a poor driving record.
